Alicante sits on what is known as the White Coast and with these golf course reviews of the area, you too, will soon be on your way to golfing in the lush and beautiful eastern coast of Spain.
Alenda Golf Club
Located in the heart of Alicante was designed by Roland Favrat and opened in 1999. With green fees at only €63 (2009), Alenda boasts an 18-hole, par 72 course that has a covered putting green, chipping green, and practice bunker. This course is not only fun but challenging with its tricky slopes where you'll need a good line to land that putt. The first nine holes are lined with trees and the last nine, are set for concentration and precision. Fees are lower for Master Golfers at Alenda and it has a clubhouse, pro shop, buggy hire, club hire among other amenities. This is a good course for players at any level.
Alicante Golf
Located in Playa de San Juan and at the foot of the Mediterranean Sea, this golf course is only five minutes from Alicante City. Opened in 1998 and designed by Severiano Ballesteros Alicante is known for its environmentally friendly care, especially when it comes to water consumption. This lush 18-hole, par 72 course has green fees of around €80 (2009). When Ballesteros designed this course, he kept it simple, assigning six par threes, six par fours, and six par fives. You can stay at the hotel connected to the course or, if you choose, reserve a tee time. Rentals, clubhouse, and pro shops are on location.
Villaitana Golf
Located in Benidorm, Villaitana has two new 18-hole courses that were designed by Jack Nicklaus' company - 'Nicklaus Designs'. Considering the amazing fact that Nicklaus Designs is responsible for bringing the golf world a remarkable one percent of all golf courses in the world - this one is pretty impressive. You'll have to roll out a few more Euros for either of these courses - one is a par 72 and the other a par 62. Full of American style such as narrow fairways, on each and every hole, you get an awesome view of the sea and the mountains. Of all of the golf course reviews, we liked these two - worth the green fees of €700 (2009) that includes everything.
Campo de Golf El Plantio
Located in Elche and built in 1993, designer Ramon Espinosa demanded the use of indigenous tree and plant life species on this spectacular 18-hole, 72 par course. Green fees are around €90 (2009) and worth the exotic atmosphere. Their water reclamation is worth the trip for any green nut and El Plantio offers both club and buggy rentals. A good course for environmentalists.
La Sella Golf
Located in Jesus Pobre, Denia, this course opened in 1991 and was designed by both Juan de la Cuadra and Jose Olazabal. This is a Marriot destination golf course and other amenities along with the 18-hole, par 72 course and nine more holes are under construction. This course is all about trees and you'll golf among olive, orange, and almond trees to name a few and this is open 364 days a year - only closed on Christmas day. This handicap maximum 35 course is good for players of all levels.
